The junior golf program is organized as a mentorship of older, more experienced juniors mentoring the younger juniors with etiquette such as raking sand traps, where to stand when teeing off, repairing ball marks, etc.
Our main focus is on sportsmanship. We want to encourage golfers that are a pleasure to golf with. Certainly we want them to become better golfers, but we don't expect them to all become golf professionals. In order to provide the best instruction possible our lessons are taught by CPGA professionals. On league nights the juniors play 9 holes of golf and lesson nights are 2 hours once per month.
The league has two nights Saturday and Wednesday. Participants sign up for one of the two nights. Parents are expected to participate with supervision and encouragement, but are not required to instruct.
Registration is April 22, 2017 at 10:00am and the Juniors will begin the season with a Clinic on Saturday, April 29, at 10:00am. This allows the children to meet, receive instruction prior to the first league night and have some fun. The final "wind up" is on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Tee times are posted the week before this event.
The junior league fee will be available on the Registration day. The league fee includes lessons and prizes, but a green fee, or pass must be purchased as well.
Through the efforts of Carla, Eamon and a group of dedicated volunteers the Gull Lake Golf Course has hosted a Pro Am and Skins Game with CPGA, LPGA, Nationwide and PGA tour players to raise funds for past junior scholarships.
